Oakland Care, an end-to-end developer and provider of quality care for the elderly, recently secured a substantial loan to advance its plans.
The southeast operator is using the funding to finance a new development that will see a brownfield site in Hampshire transformed into a large care home with capacity for 70 residents.
While loans for nursing homes help businesses set up new locations where they operate, they can also assist with purchasing expensive specialist equipment, from heavy-duty beds with enhanced safety features to patient hoists and wheelchairs.
The new development in Fleet will include sustainable and energy-saving technology. This includes air source heat pumps combined with solar photovoltaic (PV) panels to generate an efficient hot water and heating solution that keeps running costs lower.
CEO for Oakland Care, Joanne Balmer, commented on the new development’s features, stating that they will reduce the effect of the company’s services on the environment while driving long-term efficiencies for how it operates. She said that Oakland Care was confident it could scale up responsibly while offering robust outcomes for its guests. She added:
“At Oakland Care, we are committed to redefining what high-quality care looks like by combining excellence in service delivery with forward-thinking environmental design.”
Here in the UK, much is being made of the substantial shortage of care for the nation’s elderly population, and the new development aims to help address this issue. An extensive undertaking, the residential care home will take two years to complete now that funding has been secured.
