Small-to-medium-sized enterprise (SME) Tuffking is a successful British manufacturer producing high-quality safety boots. After receiving investment, the company is now expanding its operations.

SME business loans can help firms afford to take key steps necessary to scale up, like employing a larger workforce, purchasing more equipment or acquiring additional sites.

Tuffking has been based in Swindon, Wiltshire since a recent relocation and has produced durable British-made safety footwear since it was founded 1854 under the company name of Giffard Newton & Sons.

The six-figure funding has enabled the UK footwear maker to invest in its business and advance its aims to increase production of protective boots. Access to available funds has helped it in creating nine new employment opportunities, developing its domestic manufacturing facilities and expanding its current customer base.

The fresh finance is also aiding Tuffking’s overseas ambitions and sustainability goals. To meet demand for the footwear it produces internationally, the company is pushing funding into invigorating its global position. The manufacturer aims to reach a £50 million turnover by 2030, driven by its dedication to innovation and quality.

In an industry first, the company recently launched a boot manufactured from 100% recycled post-consumer waste and vegan materials, reflecting its firm focus on being sustainable.

Tuffking’s protective boots incorporate cutting-edge technology like high-density outsoles and waterproof membranes and are currently used around the world across multiple sectors. These include the military and emergency services, along with power generation industries like oil and gas production.
